Kolokvij (20. veljače)
U predavaonici Instituta u utorak 20.2.2018. u 13:30 sati održat će se kolokvij prof. Daniela Horaka iz Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prag, Češka Republika.
Naslov predavanja je Multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles for nanomedicine: Small, smart and safe
Sažetak predavanja
Theranostic particles combine diagnostic and therapeutic functionalities in the same material, e.g., magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and targeted cancer therapy. Aim of the presentation is to show synthesis of superparamagnetic and/or upconversion nanoparticles, their surface modifications with biocompatible polymer coatings, introduction of functionalities (cargoes), thorough characterization of the products by various methods, and usefulness in some biomedical applications (MRI, SPECT/CT imaging, treatment of experimental tumors).
Kratki životopis predavača
Daniel Horák received his PhD in macromolecular chemistry, is the head of the Department of Polymer Particles. His research activity is focused on the design, characterisation and application of magnetic and upconversion polymer nano- and microspheres, heterogeneous polymerisation systems (emulsion, suspension and dispersion polymerisation), properties of the particles, their chemical modifications and applications in medicine, biochemistry and biotechnology, immobilisation of enzymes and antibodies. He has published more than 200 original scientific papers, several book chapters (Polymeric Materials Encyclopedia, Strategies in Size Exclusion Chromatography, Citus Books, etc.), and 7 patents. He is a member of International Polymer Colloid Group and organizes symposia on Polymer Colloids.
