IMROH’s science in the media: Nanoworld

Two interviews with IMROH’s nanobiomedical researchers from the Analytical Toxicology and Mineral Metabolism Unit were broadcast in Prometheus, the scientific-educational emission of the national television HTV1.
The researchers of the NanoBioFaces group presented their recent scientific insights on the effectiveness and safety of nanomaterials in innovative nanodrugs, as well as on possible health risks due to exposure to ubiquitous nanoplastics from the environment.
The group, led by Dr Ivana Vinković Vrček, has been intensively studying the mode of action of different types of nanomaterials at the cellular level for the last ten years. Their research has been lately expanded to the stability and bioactivity of plastic nanoparticles in various biological media, with emphasis on the adverse effect of chemical nano-mixtures from the environment on the human hormonal system functions.
