3. VIDEO EQUIPMENT IN LECTURE ROOMS AND ONLINE EVENTS

Purposes of Personal Data Processing

In lecture room premises, the following types of personal data processing may be carried out:

a) Security Monitoring Camera

For the purpose of protecting persons and property, certain areas may be equipped with security monitoring cameras enabling live video transmission without recording or data storage.
Access to the live transmission is granted exclusively to authorised persons.

b) Online Teaching and Other Events

Lecture rooms may be used for teaching and other events conducted via video-conferencing systems (e.g. online lectures, hybrid teaching, public events).
Participants take part in such events voluntarily and independently decide whether to enable their camera and microphone.


Recording of Online Teaching and Events

Online teaching and events are generally not recorded.

If recording is carried out:

  • participants will be clearly informed in advance
  • recording will be conducted exclusively for the purpose of teaching or other related activities
  • access to recordings will be granted only to authorised persons

Unauthorised recording, storage or further distribution of content by participants is not permitted.


Legal Basis for Processing

Personal data are processed on the basis of:

  • performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority
    (Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR),

and, where applicable,

  • the legitimate interests of the data controller
    (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR), in particular for the purpose of ensuring the safety of persons and property.

Recipients and Data Processors

For the purpose of conducting online teaching and events, video-conferencing platforms may be used, whose service providers act as data processors (e.g. IT and cloud service providers).

Such service providers process personal data solely in accordance with the instructions of the data controller and in compliance with applicable personal data protection regulations.


Data Subject Rights

Individuals whose personal data are processed have the right:

  • to access their personal data
  • to rectification of inaccurate data
  • to restriction of processing, where the legal conditions are met
  • to object to the processing of personal data, where the processing is based on legitimate interests

Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes applicable regulations, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority:
