The Institute received recognitions for its research and other activities on several occasions in the past, and many members of the Institute received individual recognitions for their work.
The Croatian Parliament honoured Krista Kostial Šimonović (in 1993), Marko Šarić (in 2000) and Elsa Reiner (in 2002) with the Award for Life-Long Contributions to Science.
The Croatian Parliament honoured Carol Herak-Kramberger, Elsa Reiner, Ivan Sabolić, Vera Simeon and Mira Škrinjarić-Špoljar (in 1999), Maja Blanuša (in 2001) and Nenad Raos (in 2002) with the Annual Award for Science.
The City of Zagreb honoured Vera Garaj Vrhovac (in 2013) with the Annual Award for exceptional contribution in Science and High Education.
The Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia honoured Ljerka Prester and Jelena Macan (for 2010) and Mladen Pavlović (for 2011) with the Award "Ante Šercer".
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences honoured Elsa Reiner with the Special thanks to Professor Elsa Reiner for her contribution in cholinesterases (in 2007).
European Respiratory Society honoured Mladen Pavlović with the Silver Award (in 2004).
European Sleep Research Society honoured Adrijana Košćec-Đuknić with the Young Scientists Award (in 2004).
Croatian Radiation Protection Association honoured Branko Petrinec with the Young Scientists Award (in 2011).
Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology honoured Zrinka Kovarik (in 2004) and Goran Šinko (in 2006) with the Annual Award for Young Scientists.
The Society of University Teachers, Scholars and Other Scientists, Zagreb, honoured Veda Marija Varnai (in 2001), Zrinka Kovarik (in 2003), Marija Ljubojević (in 2004), Ana-Marija Domijan (in 2006), Goran Šinko (in 2007), Marin Mladinić (in 2009) and Goran Gajski (in 2011) with the Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists.
